Ph.D. student, Ocean Engineering. Josh’s research deals with analyzing hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics within the coastal zone, with a focus on shallow bays and Gulf Coast beaches. He works on collection and analysis of field data to quantify the impact of deep-draft vessel wakes on sediment transport within shallow bay systems, employs process-based 1D numerical models, specifically CSHORE and XBeach, to investigate the impact of hurricanes on total water level flooding and shoreline changes along the Gulf Coast, and is also involved in a substantial field data collection campaign aimed at understanding the seasonal variability of alongshore currents and sediment transport in the nearshore environment of Galveston Island, Texas.
