Ph.D. student, Ocean Engineering. Dariush is focusing on coastal hybrid defense systems, exploring the potential of reshaping berm breakwaters to address challenges such as coastal erosion and extreme weather events. Utilizing advanced computational techniques, he is working on developing a coupled CFD-DEM (Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Modeling) framework to better understand the interactions between waves and coastal structures. Through his research, he hopes to contribute to the optimization of these systems, enhancing their resilience in the context of climate change and rising sea levels. With a focus on sustainability, he aims to support the development of practical and environmentally conscious solutions for coastal protection, while learning from and contributing to the broader field of ocean and coastal engineering.
